One of my biggest baking inspirations. I really got into baking in a big way with the release of the television series 'Pushing Daisies' around four/five years ago. The ABC American programme was centered around the life of pie maker Ned, and his ability to wake the dead. This crime/baking bonaza was a staple of my life before being (sadly) ended after two years due to poor viewing figures in the US (the extravangant shows cost far more to produce then it bought it- with lavish costumes, sets and effects). The director, Bryan Fulcher, has said to have been inspired by his favourite film, 'Le Fabuleux destin d' Amelie Poulain' (mine too!) to create this colourful, memorable and beautiful show. Having...forever been a fan of film and television this gave birth to my love of bakery. Gawd bless you Mr. Fulcher, and thanks for the memories.
